Use of cold work tool steels
Cold work steel is mainly used in the tool industry, where high hardness and wear resistance are essential. This steel is used for the production of cutting tools, cutting knives, dies, punches and other tools used for cutting, punching or forming materials such as metal, wood, plastic and paper.
The properties of cold work steel depend on its chemical composition. This steel usually contains high amounts of carbon, chromium, molybdenum and vanadium to improve its hardness and wear resistance. A special heat treatment process, such as hardening and tempering, further strengthens the steel and gives it its final properties.
